Over 75% of the population in Kakamega, Kenya, survives on less than $2 a day. Poverty is a daily reality.
We saw the struggles firsthand. We saw dreams slowly fading under the weight of hardship. We knew we couldn’t wait for change to come from elsewhere.
That is why we created Tenda Wema , a community organization born from compassion and driven by the urgent need to act.
The name Tenda Wema is a Swahili Word which means “Do Good” – a philosophy that defines who we are and what we stand for.
It reflects a grassroots vision of empowering the community to rise out of poverty.
